Overview

Valiar is largely outclassed by other mentals - it lacks the top tier support move Purgation, the top tier STAB attack Matter Teleport, and the sort of bulk that lets it benefit from Effective Denial. So Valiar is in a bit of a tough place right now. Hypnosis, Bamboozle, and Rush with Inhibitor are all interesting support options, too.

Valiar got a plethora of buffs in 1.0 - it gained consistent turn one damage in Telekinetic Shrapnel, a large increase in bulk, and a useful utility move in Stare. Valiar can now support a much wider variety of teams, or become an attacker itself. This guide is still mostly support-focused, forgoing Tshrap for the extra utility of Blackhole

Diabolo is a a very strong gear on a tem that is difficult to KO and who loves to set up its allies. Mom's Lunch is another great gear for utility tems, as is Marbles, and Handcuffs paired with Ultrasound over Hypnosis.

Valiar is best paired with tems that can get large results from free early turns - Yowlar, Valash, and Anatan immediately spring to mind. Crystals that have access to Crystal Deluge, like Zenoreth or Mudrid, can also really gum up your opponent alongside Valiar.
